MUMBAI: If someone offers you a role in a film starring Salman Khan, take the offer with a pinch of salt. It could be part of an elaborate plan
to dupe you.
On Monday, the conman's latest victim was hawker Moin Mohammed, who sells cutlery outside Andheri railway station, to the tune of Rs 15,000. "Around 3.30 pm, a good-looking man walked up to me and asked if I would be interested in shooting with Salman Khan,'' said Moin.
Moin said that as the man told him that he would be suitably rewarded, he agreed. "He told me that I will play a hawker in the film, so I should carry a few items of cutlery with me. I accompanied him in a waiting auto,'' added Moin. The man stopped the autorickshaw at Anupam hair parlour on SV Road. "He told me that I should get a shave and a facial. During the facial, he made me remove my gold chain,'' said Moin.
Later, the man took Moin to a mall in Malad where he chose a few branded pants and shirts for Moin. "I wore a shirt but he said it did not look good. He asked me to wear another one and return to the trial room where he would be waiting. But when I returned, he was missing.'' After waiting for some time, Moin got worried. "I realised my gold chain, ring and a purse containing around Rs 1,500, amounting to Rs 15,000, was missing,'' added Moin.
Moin lodged a complaint at D N Nagar police station on Thursday and the police were still deciding where the case should be registered. A senior police officer said it appears that the same conman had similarly duped two others last week.
