Coke Studio reloaded: The mystery of Gumby and his cage

As Coke Studio hit airwaves yesterday, one saw Pakistan’s finest drummer Gumby return to the limelight as he played alongside the Coke Studio house band and guest musicians. And this year a gong and a cage marked Gumby’s presence inside the studio. ‘The cage’ is a reference to the glass shield that was built around Gumby’s drum kit.

“The sound of the drums was spilling onto the other mikes,” Rohail Hyatt, the producer of the show had explained. And Gumby also voiced a similar tale. With Coke Studio now in its second year, the show is technically and visually looking and sounding more crisp, clean and sharp. And it took months of preparation to reach this level.

Coming back to the lord of the drums – it was a spectacular sight to see. For one thing, it was the first time since Noori parted ways with Gumby and here was the original line-up coming together again. “Ali Noor and I are adults. So there is no baggage. But it is nostalgic,” Gumby had said back when Coke Studio was being recorded.

Another interesting bit was Gumby playing with Atif Aslam, another first for both. “He is a huge star but there was no attitude. It was great working with him,” Gumby had said about collaborating with Atif for Coke Studio.

If you still haven’t seen the show, watch out for the re-runs or hit the website for updates. Despite drumming from inside a cage, Gumby proves why he remains the most adaptable, groovy and fiery drummer in this land. And he is just one of the many reasons why Coke Studio is a must-watch.

Bollywood Stars at the IIFA's

The IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) is in full swing in Macau, China and unfortunately several key players in the industry decided not to show up. Shahrukh Khan is busy filming "My Name is Khan," Salman Khan is working on his TV show, and Aamir Khan just isn't planning on showing up as he doesn't support award shows. Other no shows include Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham, Ranbir Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Ajay Devgan, and Rani Mukherji to list a few.

Well although there was a lot of no shows there still was a good crowd that attended. Check out some pictures from the event and see who did show up to give the IIFA's some love.

Tiny Teen from India is the Smallest Girl in the World

The noted young actor Shahid Kapoor has been known as a talented fresh face in Bollywood. Another known fact is that he has been voted as the sexiest vegetarian in Asia in the poll conducted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The results of this poll were announced by PETA Asia on their website and the battle for the top slot carried on for a month. The final results were announced last Wednesday. Shahid shares this honor with Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, who was awarded the sexiest vegetarian in the USA region.

Shahid Kapoor enjoys a huge fan base in India and across the globe. This vote only confirms the steady growth of his popularity across audiences worldwide.

"It feels great to be voted the Sexiest Vegetarian in Asia. I have always supported the cause of being a vegetarian and it's nice to be felicitated for something so close to my heart. Being voted as sexy is a matter of perception but being vegetarian is a lifestyle change and something that comes from a sense of responsibility. This poll win also goes to break the myth that fitness cannot be achieved by eating vegetarian food" says Shahid Kapoor on being called the sexiest vegetarian in Asia.

Shahid Kapoor will be featured in the upcoming summer flick 'Kaminey' starring with Priyanka Chopra.

So what do you think? Do you think that Shahid Kapoor deserves to be rewarded with the title of being the sexiest vegetarian in Asia? Send us your thoughts on this.

Music Review for Bollywood Film 'New York'

By: Mufsin Mahbub

After being starved for Bollywood music for quite a few months owing to the stand-off between producers and multiplexes, music buffs finally have something really worth listening to. Yash Raj Films' first release of the year called 'New York' stars John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, and Neil Nitin Mukesh as three friends whose lives are changed forever after the devastating 9/11 attacks.

The music of 'New York' is youthful and fresh. Since the film is completely based in New York, the music of the film also has that complete western feel and there are very few Indian elements in it. The soundtrack features four songs, two remixes and two instrumentals.

The first song "Hai Junoon" is sung by KK, who has been known for his youthful voice in many of Pritam's compositions. It is a young, hip and foot-tapping number and it will be a hit amongst youngsters. The track also has a remixed version, which is average and adds nothing to the song. There is also a music video from the track below for those of you who want to see the song in action.

Next is "Mere Sang" by the diva singer Sunidhi Chauhan behind the mic. Sunidhi has the potential to mesmerize the listener and she succeeds in doing so in the song. Although the lyrics could have been better, "Mere Sang" sounds nice in parts where the tempo rises. This song also has a remixed version, which is far from interesting, making the original much better.

Up next is "Tune Jo Na Kaha". Mohit Chauhan has sung the track in his usual free-flowing, soft voice and trademark style. The song has a heard-before feel but still makes the listener sit up and take notice. The lyrics are good too.

The fourth song on the list is "Aye Saaye Mere," sung and composed by Pankaj Awasthi. It has a rustic feel to it but has an urban touch at places too. The song is well sung and the music makes it intriguing. "Aye Saaye Mere" is surely a good listen.

The movie boasts of not one but two instrumentals composed by Julius Packiam. The first one, "Sam's theme", is slow, poignant, soothing to the ears and has less musical arrangements. The vocals are sung by Caralisa Monteiro who does a great job with it and apart from her vocals the music has little to offer in this theme. The fact that Sam's character has a theme proves that he is the central character in the film. It is an equally engrossing piece of work.

The second one called the "New York theme" is dark, edgy and definitely the highlight of the album. The music grows on the listener and is very intense. After a long time, a soundtrack entails an instrumental.

On the whole, "New York" is a welcome break from the dry spell in the Bollywood music scene. I would give this album a three out of five and I think it is worth listening to. The best songs that stand out would be ""Hai Junoon"" (including the remix)," "Mere Sang"", and the ""New York Theme"". Pritam has done a good job and has created some nice hummable tracks that are sure to strike a chord with the listeners, especially youngsters.

Film Review: 'Kal Kissne Dekha'

By Amna Alam

The Story:

"Kal Kissne Dekha" is a story about Nihal Singh (Jackky Bhagnani) who is from Chandigarh and loves to build complicated gadgets in his spare time. He has a brilliant mind and dreams of studying in the most elite institute of science. When he is accepted into his dream college in Mumbai, he discovers college is a whole new world, new people and new challenges. On his college journey, Nihal falls for a girl named Meesha (Vaishali Desai). Meesha is a proud, rude, college brat who doesn't accept that Nihal is managing to charm everyone on campus including Professor Verma (Rishi Kapoor), the warden of the college.

Nihal starts to gets visions of Meesha being in danger. He saves her life and his secret is revealed that he can foresee the future. After this incident, love blossoms between Nihal and Meesha. At the same time, the media reports this startling discovery and Nihal starts getting undue attention from anti-social elements.

The Cast:

Jackky Bhagnani as Nihal Singh, a simple guy who charms his way into college and has the uncanny gift of seeing the future.

Vaishali Desai as Meesha, a spoiled college girl who doesn't like Nihal at first, but suddenly falls for him after he saves her life.

Rishi Kapoor as Professor Verma, the college warden

Sanjay Dutt (cameo)

Ritesh Deshmukh (cameo)

The Crew:

Distributor: Big Pictures
Production House: Puja Films
Director: Vivek Sharma
Story & Screenplay: Vivek Sharma
Choreography: Remo
Lyrics: Sameer
Music Director: Sajid-Wajid

The Soundtrack:

Sajid-Wajid have created an energetic soundtrack with foot-tapping tunes including the title track "Kal Kissne Dekha" and "Jashn Hai," as well slower romantic tunes like 'Aalam Guzarne Ko' and the ultra-popular 'Tere Bina.'

What Works:

The film is beautifully shot in the breathless locales of South Africa. Shots of Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and the backdrop of the University of Stellenbosch bring a sigh of relief to the viewer. Jackky Bhagnani's dance sequences and special guest appearances by a few of Bollywood's best (Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla) also add excitement to the film. The picturisation of all of the songs give the film a grand look.

What Doesn't:

The film transitions in and out of unnecessary sub-plots and doesn't focus on the main story. The predictable nature of the story leaves no excitement and the film fails to fully capture the essence of a Mumbai college campus. There is major character overkill, which strips the debutantes (Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai) to display their full potential.

Slated Or Rated?

The first post-strike film "Kal Kissne Dekha" opened to empty cinema halls. This is one of those films where the music is better than the film.

Rating: 2 out of 5

Aussie Singer's Infatuation with Bollywood

At the IIFA awards in Macau, China, 36 year old Australian singer, Peter Andre, talks to the press about his fond admiration and desire to soon work in Bollywood.

"It's a massive industry and I am honored to be invited here to perform. I am looking forward to meeting all the stars, dancing, and singing," says Peter at the awards show.

Peter went on to say that he grew up watching old Bollywood films as a child and that he has a great love for Indian music and culture. Peter said, "I love the music and what especially attracts me, which western people aren't too aware of, are the notes."

Because of his recent split with his wife, Katie Price, Peter is looking forward to spending his time and mind on projects. As of now, he has his eye set on Bollywood, and why not? With all the global hype it's getting, there is no better time to jump on the band wagon.

Well we hope to see the Aussie at work in Bollywood soon. Do you think this Australian native should collaborate with anyone specifically?

IIFA Update: 'Jail' first look to happen

Percept Picture Company will break the first look of JAIL on the prestigious platform of IIFA Awards 2009. Shailendra Singh, Jt. Managing Director, Percept Ltd., will be accompanied by director Madhur Bhandarkar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mugdha Godse and Manoj Bajpai.

Niel and Mugdha will be presenting an award at IIFA and will be participating in the IIFA 2009 weekend activity, where they will be talk about the movie. They will also walk the ramp and engage in a Q & A session with the media. The promos of the movie are also to be shown.

IIFA Update: Shahid unable to perform

Shahid Kapoor has had to change his plans of attending IIFA and performing there for his upcoming film KAMINEY. Though the actor was looking forward to his performance, the dates could not be adjusted as three of his films [KAMINEY, PAATHSHALA and Yashraj Films' untitled film] are ready for release and there is patchwork shoot remaining for Ken Ghosh's untitled film.

Since the dates of IIFA were clashing with the dates he had committed to a producer, Shahid has had to pull out of IIFA this year.

Newsbreak: Govinda-Riteish to perform together at IIFA

David Dhawan is a very happy man. And it's not only because he's making back-to-back movies, and judging a reality show Hans Baliye during the time of recession.

The biggest reason is that the cast members of David's latest directorial offering Do Knot Disturb are going to IIFA. "Now that the strike (of new releases in multiplexes) is over, Govinda and Riteish Deshmukh who are in the film will be performing live at IIFA."

David is heading to Macau with his wife where images from Do Knot Disturb will be shown at the IIFA event.

David also intends to do a music video featuring the entire cast of Do Knot Disturb. "I want Sushmita, Lara, Sohail, Riteish and Govinda. We want to promote Do Knot Disturb in a big way and release around Eid."

With David doing a film for producer Vashu Bhagnani after years, he is naturally very concerned. "It has to go right. I'm very happy with the film. The strike ended at just the right time. There was hardly any shooting going on. Media persons had nothing to write so they were making up stories."

Bollywood brings Flair to 'So You Think You Can Dance '

What better way to start a season of the primetime American TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance" than with a Bollywood dance?! Last year in season 4, Nakul Dev Mahajan made his debut and choreographed a duet and group routine for the dancers. Nakul stirred up a buzz with the jhatkas and matkas he put into the Bollywood moves in his choreography. To the Desi audience, Nakul's choreography was lacking, but he appealed to the TV audience, probably because the western world is into all things Desi these days! For this season Nakul is a regular choreographer on the show. Nakul has stepped up his game and put forth a better routine for "Slumdog Millionaire" track, "Jai Ho" with more choreography and expression.

For this episode the top twenty dancers were all paired up and assigned different styles of dance and Jason and Caitlin were the lucky ones who were given Bollywood. The couple performed a semi-classical dance to the track 'Jai Ho' from 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Jason and Caitlin were nervous about the routine, but looked like they were having a great time.

Jason wore an Aladdin inspired outfit with gold pants and an open purple jacket. Caitlin donned a vibrant turquoise, red, and pink outfit. She wore traditional gold costume jewelry and wore it all quite well. Judge Mary Murphy says "I am so glad Bollywood came to Hollywood." The judges were amazed by the couples enthusiasm and energy. Nigel Lythgoe, judge and producer of the show, mentioned how proud he is to have recognized the Desi culture before the 'Slumdog Millionaire' hype and that he is also proud to have Nakul be a part of the 'So You Think You Can Dance' team.

"I am so glad Bollywood came to Hollywood"

Jason and Caitlin were not the only ones who shined last night. In fact, I think it is one of the strongest opening episodes ever! Jonathan and Karla performed a HOT Cha Cha to the track 'Pokerface' by Lady GaGa. Though neither of them were wearing latex they looked amazing in their white costumes. The Cha Cha is a Latin style of dance and one that may not be paired with pop music often, but this routine worked and received its praises from the judges. From choreography to chemistry, this couple had it all.

Phillip and Jeanine opened the show with their HipHop routine to Ne-Yo's track 'Mad' which showed emotion and technique as well. Wade Robson choreographed a Jazz routine for Kupono and Ashley. The story was of two crash test dummies and was absolutely mesmerizing.

Let's see what the choreographers and couples have for us next week, and let's see if Nakul choreographs another routine.

Let us know what you think of the 'Jai Ho' routine. Would you like to see any couple in particular dancing to Bollywood, how about a particular song? Leave us your comments below.

Tiny Teen from India is the Smallest Girl in the World

Fifteen year old Jyoti Amge is just like your average teenage girl. She has a fond admiration for beautiful dresses, and watching movies of her favorite Bollywood stars. However, Jyoti is quite unique as she stands at 1 ft 11 in (58 cm).

Jyoti was born with a disorder called achondroplasia and won't grow any taller than her current height. She is so small that she has to have clothes and jewelry made for her and eats from special plates and silverware because normal sizes are far too big for her to use.

Jyoti's mom, Ranjana Amge said, "When Jyoti was born, she seemed quite normal. We came to know about her disorder when she was five."

Jyoti attends regular school in Nagpur, Central India, and has her own small desk and chair. There, she is treated like a mini-celeb by her fellow classmates who treat her no different than anyone else.

You'd think her size would deter her spirits but you would be wrong, in fact she is rather proud of her height. "I'm just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don't feel any different," says Jyoti.

This adorable girl certainly has big aspirations as she wants to follow in the steps of some of her favorite movie stars and be a Bollywood actress herself. Right now, she is currently releasing an album with her favorite Indian pop star, Mika Singh. It looks like Jyoti is well on her way to following her dreams, staying positive in every sense.

What do you guys think about the little girl with the big dreams? Leave your comments and words of inspiration for Jyoti below.

Is there Hope for Imran Khan to Release his Upcoming Album?

Since the massive response to the single that turned into the summer 07 anthem "Ni Nachle", Imran Khan has been telling us that he's going to be releasing his album "very soon". So long in fact that it's been three years. Well we hate to say it, but apparently it will be coming out soon'ish.' It has been said that this summer is the summer in which Imran Khan will be releasing his loooong awaited album 'Unforgettable.'

There were some unknown "circumstances" that delayed the album from releasing. Well now it has finally been confirmed, the album will come out this summer on Prestige Records. And apparently all of the songs that have been circulating on the internet and on YouTube are not the ones that will be featured on the album. Whether there will be added lyrics or clearer recordings, we will just have to wait for the album to drop to hear the 'proper' tracks. With all these delays there better be something new!

Prestige Records and Imran Khan were even kind enough to release the final track listing for his debut album 'Unforgettable'. It's probably in an attempt to keep people interested.

An album with fifteen tracks is a pretty ample release. Is Imran Khan so 3 years ago? While the boy's got some amazing music, his album has been on the back burner and the music industry has been progressing.

Are you still interested in hearing and owning the album 'Unforgettable' or is Imran Khan a forgettable artist? Let us know your thoughts.

Kahani Khan - daan ki

When one has a great storyteller like Salim Khan at home, one needn’t look far for inspiration and guidance.

Ask Sohail Khan, who intends to take papa Salim’s help for his next love story, which will star bade bhaiya Salman Khan. Sohail had earlier directed Salman in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Auzaar and Hello Brother.

According to Sohail, the sensitivity quotient in the love story will largely depend on his father. Sohail confirmed this and said, “Yes, I’m taking dad’s help to write the love story. No one knows script writing as well as he does. Today, young filmmakers take dad’s help to put together missing pieces in their scripts. So why shouldn’t I benefit from his amazing talent?”

While the finer details of the love story are yet to be decided, Sohail said that it will be a realistic and mature love story. “I want to direct Salmanbhai again after I finish producing Partner 2,” he said.

Commenting on the cast of his next love story, he said, “My films will always feature Salmanbhai. As for the leading lady, it will always be about who he is comfortable with.”

Meanwhile on the acting front, Sohail’s career as a comic actor is going great ‘grins’. He has just wrapped up Do Knot Disturb, a comedy film with David Dhawan. Now, David also wants Sohail to play a part in Partner 2, but Sohail intends to politely turn down the offer. “I can’t produce and also act in a film. I’m okay with being directed by David in Amar Akbar Anthony along with my brothers because the Tauranis of Tips are producing it. But when I’m the producer, I don’t want to act,” said Sohail

Salman Khan takes Azhar for a ride

Salman Khan gifts the Slumdog Millionaire child actor a battery operated bike that he'd wanted for years.

Mumbai: Salman Khan is known for his benevolence and the latest person who has been touched by the actor is none other than the Slumdog Millionaire kid Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail who played the character of Salim in Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning film.

Salman recently played Santa to Azhar on the sets of his TV show as he went out of his way to purchase a battery operated bike worth Rs15,000 for the child actor, who had longed to own one for years. His parents' poor financial condition was a bane for him to fulfil his long-cherished dream.

A source close to the development says, "Salman was doing a children's special shoot with Darsheel Safary, Tanay Chheda and Azhar for 10 Ka Dum and while he was talking to the Slumdog kid, he learnt that Azhar was his big fan and that he was longing to own a bike. Azhar had seen such a bike before in the stores or with kids of his age group who hail from affluent families. The most emotional moment for Salman came when Azhar told him that his dream will always remain a dream as he comes from a poor family and that his parents don't have the money to gift him a bike."

The insider adds, "Salman was shocked and his heart went out to Azhar. Many on the sets say he had tears in his eyes. Sallu quickly asked the people on the sets to buy a bike for him. It was his gift for Azhar. Salman personally made Azhar sit on it and allowed him to ride it on the sets while the camera was rolling. Azhar was delighted by the surprise. When this episode was over, he kept on riding the bike backstage too."

Salman told Azhar, "This was your long cherished desire and it now stands fulfilled, but I'm going to take the first ride on the bike." He then drove it on the sets and then made all the kids starting from Azhar ride the vehicle.Salman Khan gifts the Slumdog Millionaire child actor a battery operated bike that he'd wanted for years.

"Deepika's personality grounds my personality on screen" - Saif

Saif Ali Khan is just five minutes away before he addresses the Indian media on his maiden venture into production for his film Love Aaj Kal in which he stars opposite the beautiful leggy Deepika Padukone. But inside the PVR theatre, the room temperature is high and our mind is on overdrive. He has it all. A successful career and a blissful relationship with Kareena Kapoor. Media keeps waiting for more than an hour but they don't complaint because the man in question is a 'nawab'. In fact, there is a 99% possibility that he can be declared as the sexiest man alive in Bollywood. So there he was; he walks up to the stage with an English walk, wearing the summer cliche white shirt and blue denims. His brown boots, brown sun-glasses and belt make him the ultimate spaghetti western and a true style icon of Hindi cinema. For the genial Indian actor, there is more than usual at stake because Love Aaj Kal is too personal for him. Not only is Saif inspired by his idol Clint Eastwood, he also recalls what the American actor once said, "The worst step I can ever take is to get into production. So I've named my company 'Malpaso' which means a bad step". Khan quotes, "I think that was very brave and bold." Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent and UK's Harrow Observer columnist meets the desi cowboy in videsi style to talk all about Love Aaj Kal, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, his take on life, career and how to play it safe in love. Over to Saif in Love!

As a debutant producer
"You are never hundred percent satisfied as a producer. Every detail has to be organized. Even if you want a glass of water, it has to be organized. We've learnt a lot of things into our maiden venture and my dear friend and partner Mr. Dinesh Vijan has been a great support. Our entire team of Illuminati is fantastic. But it was Imtiaz Ali who told me that he wanted me to only be an actor as he didn't like me to handle the production problems. Yes, creatively, in terms of promos, posters, etc I've been actively involved with. Being a producer is sometimes frightening but it's also exciting. I'm in a positive frame of mind with Love Aaj Kal."

Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone Advice from Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar
I've been fortunate enough to work in a few very good productions. My only success in cinema came from working with big banners like Yash Raj, Excel Entertainment, Dharma Productions, etc. I'm fortunate enough to have friends in the industry who're producers too. Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar would be happy to advice me on the finer tips about production if ever I asked them for one. I haven't called anyone to ask for help. I'm not saying that I know everything about production but I believe that everything is a learning process and somehow we've managed to make our first film."

Getting into Production
"My interest really is not so much in production. But after working for eighteen years you feel that it'll be nice to own a little bit of what you're working for and work a little bit more for yourself and be creatively involved. When your own money is involved, the inputs from friends, colleagues mean something else. So I wanted to learn that level of involvement and business that has given me so much. Today, I do feel more ready as a producer, an independent one because there aren't any independent producers left. All have turned into one big production house."

The mystery woman
"There isn't any mystery surrounding the second actress in Love Aaj Kal. Her name is Harleen. She isn't here as a part of the promotion for the film because we felt that the main focus of the movie is Deepika and myself in terms of characters. Harleen isn't someone whom we've kept deliberately away from you. She is very good in the film."

Imtiaz Ali
"When you hear a script and hear a vibe from somebody, it works for me. A famous actor once said, 'The clever thing an actor does is not acting, it's the listening he does'. I'm a good listener. So when Imtiaz narrated me the script, I decided that we should go ahead with the film."

Saif Ali Khan Love 1965 to 2009
"I think the experience of love is the same. A lot of cinematic and real life love stories have certain obstacles. In today's time it could be career, distance, etc. The process of falling in love may be different in two different eras but the feeling is the same. That is pretty much what Love Aaj Kal is about. There is a 1965 love kal and 2009 love aaj. So there is a story within the story and it's not really a comparison between two different eras. I'm not playing a double role and Imtiaz Ali isn't going to make a film which is confusing."

Saif Ali Khan - the lover
"I guess everybody has the same definition for love. I mean, I am lovey-dovey kinds but also a bit practical and if you're saying that there is too much love happening in my life, I think it's a little bit unfair. That's got a lot to do with the media (laughs). Yes, I've got a lot of love in my life which is a good thing."

Deepika Padukone
"Deepika's personality grounds my personality on screen; in a way what Rani Mukherjee does because we are different types. I'm a little more western in my things and she is a little more earthy. That mixture makes an interesting chemistry on screen."

Saif Ali Khan Playing a Sardar
"To play a Sardar, I had some responsibilities to it also. We met various members of some Sikh organizations like the Akalis. They were all very happy when they heard about the film and my role. Dolly Tiwari who has done my clothes in the film has been so perfect to dress me up as one. A lot of Sardarji's will be very proud for the honourable representation that this character has given in the film. I had to work on the accent a little bit."

On IIFA
"IIFA is a great platform to promote your film as long as it suits everybody. The main performance slot is the first one or the last one and they both were already taken. The opening act was already booked and the Bachchans are doing the grand finale at this year's IIFA. So we didn't want to dissolve our film somewhere in the middle."

On Salman and Akshay playing a Sardar
"I haven't seen Salman Khan's film Heroes but I have seen Akshay's Singh is Kinng. I thought that it was a very glamorous and a cool kind of a film and I think he looked very good. The outfits were larger than life but the Sardar I'm playing is very down to earth and there is no comparison. You should see a film as a new and a different world and only then you'll enjoy it. We can compare between us but the idea is just to be genuine within that and not really think about others."

"Don 2 is being written by three Don fans and not my father" - Farhan Akhtar

Known to be utterly gregarious and accessible, Farhan has suddenly withdrawn into a shell. Before well-wishers could presume the worst, the truth has come out in the open.

His current acting assignment, Kartik Versus Kartik with Deepika Padukone which is almost done provoked these withdrawal symptoms.

Since the part requires him to be a lonely brooder, Farhan has lately switched off his phone and become almost inaccessible to the world outside. "It was the nature of the character I was playing. He's a guy lost in his world. So I was making an effort to isolate myself," he says.

Friends found Farhan's behaviour strange since usually he is so reachable and gregarious. "Lately I've just been switching off from the world for the sake of my character. If you want to call it method acting, so be it," says Farhan.

Farhan won't be cast in Abhishek Kapoor's second film, though it's being produced by Farhan's company. "Gattu has very specific ideas on whom he wants to cast. If he thinks I don't fit any part that's fine. I'm just happy producing his film."

Now Farhan prepares to shoot for Don 2. His father Javed Akhtar will not be a part of the sequel to Don. The first part of the film had been written by Javed saab. Don 2 has a different team of writers which includes Farhan.

"The first film was my father's vision. He had written the original Don featuring Mr. Bachchan. But Don 2 is being written by fans only. These are yours truly and two new enthusiastic boys Ameet and Amreesh who came to me with their ideas on how the story can be carried forward. I've thrown my ideas at them. Don 2 is basically being written by three Don fans who are having a ball carrying the story forward.

About the exclusion of his father Farhan explains, "He cannot be a fan of Don because he conceived it."

Farhan's heart is set on his pet project Voice From The Sky which got stalled by casting setbacks. "It's strange. No matter who it is and no matter how big or small the director, everyone of us is facing casting problems. Finding the right actors has become a major problem. Voice From The Sky did get delayed because I couldn't find the right actor. But I know I'll come back to it. And one day when you see it, you'll realize why I had to make this film."

Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman Part Ways

It seems like another one of the cute young couples in Bollywood had decided to part ways as Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman have split. Except this time around they're admitting it! Well, Kangana is at least. The starlet took to her blog and wrote this:

"Hello, Since I promised you'd get the REAL answers about controversies in my life here on this site, I want to let you know that it is true that Adhyayan Suman and I have decided to part ways.

The decision to move on after a year's relationship was Adhyayan's, and I was shocked by it. But we've parted ways amicably. We both feel the need to focus on our career at present rather than a serious relationship. My upcoming films, No Problem, Kites, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai will be keeping me busy, and Adhyayan also has a full schedule of shooting and promotions on his hands. I wish him the best in life. Kangana"

We have to say it's pretty refreshing to see her admitting to the break up and being so polite and amicable about it, even though they were such a cute couple. Perhaps Adhyayan's father's protests against the relationship finally got to them causing them to split. After all, his father did want his son to focus more on his career rather than his relationship with Kangana.

So what do you guys think about Kangana and Adhyayan's split? Who do you think is to blame? Do you believe Kangana when she says it was an amicable split? Drop us a comment with your thoughts!

Is Mallika Sherawat Usher's New Muse?

Bollywood babe Mallika Sherawat has been quite a busy bee living it up in Hollywood while working on post production for her new film, 'Hisss. She's been attending Hollywood parties and even had a milkshake named after her! Well now it seems she's caught the eye of none other then R&B singer, Usher! How the heck did that happen you may ask. Well it seems the two met at a local Los Angeles eatery.

Mallika took to her Twitter account to announce her meeting with the singer."Met Usher at LA's Best Brunch! He's very handsome.Oh My God !Usher's promised to dedicate a song to me," she wrote. Hmm... wonder what inspired Usher to say he'll dedicate a song to curvaceous starlet? By the sounds of it, Mallika was pretty star-struck! She even has a pic with Usher on her twitter and she remarks, "Why are all the good ones married? jk"

She also tells us through her tweets that she will be in LA for a while longer as she's signed another film that will be shot in Los Angeles. "Sittin in LA and getting excited about by next movie which will be filmed here in the city! More information to come," she wrote.

There might be another reason Mallika is enjoying her stay in Hollywood so much - her swanky new digs! Mallika has apparently rented a posh penthouse at The Palazzo located perfectly in between Hollywood and Beverly Hills.Talk about living the high life!

Aamir Khan to be A Father Again?

Superstar Aamir Khan is already a father of two children, son Junaid and daughter Ira, and it's been reported that Aamir is set to become a father once again! The buzz is that Aamir's wife Kiran Rao is pregnant! Supposedly Kiran became aware of her three month pregnancy when she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for a high fever last week. Kiran was held at the hospital for a week and her loving husband Aamir visited her daily but only in the evening to stay away from the media glare.

Kiran and Aamir have been a couple since she was his assistant in the making of "Lagaan," and were married on December 28th, 2005. Of course, since then there have been many rumors that Kiran was pregnant, but apparently by all accounts, this time the rumors seem to be true.

This child will be Aamir's first child with Kiran as he had his two children, Junaid and Ira with his ex-wife Reena Dutta. Aamir and Reena got divorced in 2002 after 15 years of marriage and the two children both live with their mother. This would be Kiran's first child.

If the rumor does in fact turn out to be true, we send our congrats to the happy couple!

Julia Roberts the Next Hollywood Star to Shoot in India?

It seems Hollywood is falling deeper and deeper for all things Bollywood and India! Word is the next Hollywood star to shoot in India is none other than 'Pretty Woman' star Julia Roberts! Reportedly she will be in India to shoot a film titled, 'Eat, Pray, Love.' Her co-star, Javier Bardem, who starred in and won an Oscar for his role in 'No Country for Old Men,' will be accompanying her.

'Eat, Pray, Love' is an on screen adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's novel and memoir of the same name and is about her travels to Rome, India and Bali after a bitter divorce. Word is Bardem is in negotiations with film executives at Columbia Pictures to play Felipe who is the man Julia's character falls in love with after meeting him at an Indian ashram.

What's even more exciting is that the film is being produced by Hollywood royalty, actor Brad Pitt along with Dede Gardner through their productions company Plan B.

Plus, you might remember that Julia visited India in January and stopped at many places including the Taj Mahal. Perhaps that was just a precursor to her shooting 'Eat, Love, Pray,' in India? After all if she's going to be shooting and living in India with her husband Danny Motor and three young children for a while, she should get used to it.

So what do you guys think about Julia shooting a film in India? What do you think about Julia adding to growing list of Hollywood stars visiting and shooting in India? Is this just a precursor for larger Bollywod-Hollywood collaborations to come in the future? Sounds exciting to us! But let us know what you think by dropping a comment below!

Darsheel, Tanay and Azhar will feature on Salman Khan's game show '10 Ka Dum'

What's better than having celebrities as players on a game show that tests how well the participant knows the Indian populace? Well, the answer is right in front of us, as Darsheel Safari, Tanay and Azhar, the little superstars of the film Taare Zameen Par and Slumdog Millionaire gear up to play '10 Ka Dum', the most popular game on Indian telly, with its host Salman Khan.

"My Sardar character comes in a story within the story, I've a double role" - Saif

Besides sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor in one of the biggest fiascos of their careers - Tashan, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan now have something else in common.

They both play double roles, characters belonging to two different time zones in their forthcoming films and have to spend hours preparing for their double makeover.

Akshay Kumar, who is currently shooting for Vipul Shah's Action Replay spends a minimum of an hour every morning getting into a 1970s' sporty look without the help of prosthetics. "It's the toughest role I've played. The preparation takes a lot of time. I've Paul Pattison, who did Mel Gibson's look in Braveheart, doing my look. But the effort is worth it. When I look in the mirror after Paul is done I can't recognize myself," chuckles Akshay.

If Akshay promises to look unrecognizable in Action Replay, Saif in Love Aaj Kal shocked even Kareena. "She couldn't recognize me at first when she saw me as a Sardarji," marvels Saif.

In one way or another, people who are close to Kareena are playing Sardars. If her cousin Ranbir is playing a Sikh in Shimit Amit Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year, Saif Ali Khan gets to play a Sardar in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal.

And if Kareena's former love-interest Shahid Kapoor is playing his first double role in Kaminey, Saif Ali Khan too plays a double role for the first time in his home production Love Aaj Kal.

So far we've known only the fact that Saif gets into a Sardarji's act in the course of the narration in Love Aaj Kal. However, the Sardar is a separate character from the protagonist. Says Saif, "The Sardar comes in a story within the story. Yes, I've a double role. The two characters belong to two different time zones."

Apparently, when Kareena saw Saif dressed as a Sardar she couldn't believe the transformation.

Like Ranbir, Saif got a chance to grow his beard for the Sardar's part. "I grew the beard fully. It had to be faked only for one day's patchwork. I give the full credit for the Sardar's look to Dolly Ahluwalia. She had earlier done a great job dressing me up as Langda Tyagi in Omkara. She styled my Sardar's look in Love Aaj Kal."

Saif hasn't done too many disguises. "But after Omkara, I transform physically in Love Aaj Kal. Otherwise I'm not much into physical makeovers."

Neither is Akshay. But both the hotsellers intend to give Gulshan Grover, the master of on-camera makeovers a run for his makeup later this year.

LOVE AAJ KAL : Movie Previews

Love Aaj
London, San Francisco, Delhi - 2009.
Jai and Meera is a modern-day couple in London. They are very happy together but do not believe in tying each other down. So when life pulls them in different directions, they decide to go with the flow. "These Heer-Ranjha, Romeo-Juliet type janam janam ka saath type couples exist only in story books," Jai says. In the real life, we have to be practical.

Love Kal
Delhi, Calcutta - 1965.
Veer Singh is struck by a thunderbolt when he sees Harleen for the first time. Soon after, he stands under a tree and swears that "is janam mein aur har janam mein... yehi meri votti banegi - Harleen Kaur." He travels a thousand kilometers by train to stand under her balcony only to have a glimpse of her face. And yet not speak a word with her.

Love Aaj Kal
Veer does not understand how Jai can treat matters of the heart without passion, like a financial transaction. Jai does not understand how Veer Singh could have been so naïve and silly about Harleen in the days of his youth. But as both stories unfold, we realize that the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same. So there is the frolic and despair of modern living, the liberation and confusion. And there is the past - the times of innocence and compulsion. And there is distance, and the fondness that increases with distance. Gaps widen between two people, but bridges keep growing too.

Revisiting Sonam Kapoor's childhood

Today is the birthday of the most brittle and delicate actress who spells class with a capital C. She is none other than Sonam Kapoor, the darling daughter of Anil Kapoor. We are sure that after her superlative performances in Saawariya and Delhi 6, her house will be overflowing with gifts and bouquets galore. Amidst all these zillion gifts, aamir091.blogspot.com would like to gift the petite Sonam Kapoor with something that we are sure, she will treasure the most: A walk down memory lane with photographs to drip that eternal tear rolling down the cheek…

This snap has the ageless wonder Anil Kapoor alongwith the two apples of his eyes: Sonam's sister Rhea and 'badi didi' Sonam herself! Who would have ever though that this 'badi didi' and also Papa's girl will eventually go onto become the dream girl of zillions of people worldwide!

Not many know that Sonam, besides being a cool actress is also an intellectual person. Proof of which lies in the fact that she had enrolled in the United World College of South East Asia to do her International Baccalaureate. After that, she later graduated from the University of Bombay, majoring in Political Science and Economics. Not just that, before starting her career off as an actress, she even worked as an assistant under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and assisted during the making of his film Black.

RGV to make a 3-D Horror film titled Warning, will star Riteish Deshmukh

It's time to put your red glasses on guys! We've heard many a times Ram Gopal Varma being tagged as a 'mad' director more than a 'maverick' one. But his madness can reach such heights that he might just about warn you that something creepier, scarier and nastier is slowly going to engulf one and all. Urmila in Bhoot looked creepy, his crow in Phoonk looked scary and wait till you see Riteish Deshmukh look nasty in Ram Gopal Varma's first ever 3-Dimensional horror film titled Warning. Going by RGV's wacky sense of humour, he also stated that his underline concept of the film is going to be - Ram Gopal Varma's warning. In his own words, the film churner says, 'If you think you have experienced everything there is to experience in fear, just wait for Warning. It's a 3-D horror film with an extraordinary experience of an extremely heightened sense of realism because the viewer is no longer removed from the happenings on screen and would feel that he is up there along with the characters on the location and is in as much danger as they are." RGV adds, "The tag line of Warning is - You Might Die. It is also going to be a film with the first ever 4-D experience, the fourth dimension being 'Death'. So far, I have finalised Riteish Deshmukh as one of the cast."

Now RGV needs to take care of two things before his warning fails to ignite the fear. Working with 3-D poses unusual challenges for the horror genre. First, the filming process requires a lot of light, which is not especially conducive to creating spooky basements and lurking shadows. Marketing is also a challenge. So far the 3-D films that have been released in theatres in India since its inception have all geared to families.

We also know for the fact that RGV is the mother of invention when it comes to experimenting with different subjects and genres, but if there was ever a moment when horror needed to be reinvented, this is it, because we aren't telling you....we're warning you!

Jai Ho and Slumdog to be Added to the Dictionary?

As of tomorrow, June 10th 2009 there will be one million documented English words in use, and one of these could be from Hinglish, a language that combines elements from Hindi and English! The Global Language Monitor is counting down to the one millionth English word, which they say will happen at 10:22 AM GMT and they are choosing a word to represent this monumental occasion. Of the contenders, there are three that stand out to us at Desi Hits!: cuddies (Hinglish word for women's underwear), jai ho, and slumdog. Notice a trend?

The word will be chosen based on a variety of statistics including the number of occurrences on the internet and in global print and the range of places it is used throughout the world. The word with the highest score in all of the categories will become English's official one millionth word. Considering that 14 new English words are being created each day it's pretty obvious that Desi culture is making waves the world over for these words to be so high up on the list.

Slumdog Millionaire seems to have gotten the linguistic ball rolling but with B-town becoming more popular everyday, who knows how many more Hinglish words will make their way into the dictionary? What do you think of this competition? Can you think of any more popular words that should be included?

Sonam Kapoor Honored by The Hollywood Reporter

Looks like the "It" girl of Bollywood, Sonam Kapoor is getting recognized in Hollywood as well! The Hollywood Reporter, the trade bible of Hollywood, has selected Miss Kapoor as the only Indian on the list of "the next generation of leaders in the rapidly growing Asian entertainment sector." This section of The Hollywood Reporter titled, "Next Generation: Asia Class of 2009" is a part of a special issue that highlights the flourishing Asian market.

The journal called her role in "Delhi-6" "pretty heady stuff". Her accomplishments will be featured through an article about her career, and also a certificate will be presented to her from the publisher of The Hollywood Reporter, Eric Mika.

Sonam Kapoor said of the tribute "Obviously I am very gratified that such an influential Hollywood publication decided to honor me in this fashion. But given that the Hollywood Reporter issue was devoted to talent from all over Asia, I accepted the honor not just for myself but as representative of all the great new talent that the industry has seen in recent times. Yes, it is pleasing to be recognized by Hollywood so early in my career, but my success is due to the enormous faith that the Indian film industry has placed in me and the great love that I have been lucky to get from my audiences."

The Hollywood Reporter''s "Next Generation" issue comes out every year and is highly anticipated so this is quite an honor for the rising star.

Imran on his style, his gadgets and his love for wheels

Mehboob studios, Mumbai

Ready on the dot at 9.30 am for the MW shoot, Imran Khan is checking his reflection in the mirror. Brows raised in concentration, he appraises his look for the first shot du jour. The stylist has picked a layered T-shirt to go with a pair of white slim fit jeans and worn with a pair of black-and-white ankle-length sneakers. "Let's rock 'n' roll!" says Khan when he's finally satisfied with the look after a fair bit of tweaking. His involvement with his look is evident as the shoot progresses through the day. "Why don't we fold the sleeves in the next shot? I think it will look better that way," he quips, trying to find a solution to an errant cuff like a consummate sartorialist.

Shah Rukh Khan signs 3 year deal to host IIPM quiz

That's what SRK says to all B-School students as IIPM signs up SRK for a three year deal to host IIPM's B-School Quiz!

Be it placements at IIPM or its global initiatives, IIPM clearly seems to have remained untouched by the economic recession. At a time when even Bollywood has put its projects on hold, in a first of its kind trend setting move, the institution has now roped in the Badshah of Bollywood, SRK to host their annual business and marketing quiz, for three years. To be held in association with Planman Media's magazine, 4Ps Business and Marketing it promises to become India's premiere B-School quiz event!

When Bollywood Hungama contacted Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri, the Dean of IIPM said, "IIPM is all about bringing World-Class in terms of education as well as campus life experience for the students. The IIPM B-School festival, Amaze, is in any case the largest B-School festival in India with huge participation from International B-Schools as well. This B-School Quiz also promises to be a big international event." When quizzed about bringing King Khan to host the event, he said, "Everything we do at IIPM is grand, distinct, pioneering and above all else global. Who else in India can make an event big just by his global popularity than SRK? And to top it all he is perceived as the intelligent face of bollywood because of his economics education background, his suave marketing skills and sharp intelligence. He obviously was the natural choice. IIPM is honoured and proud that he accepted our request!" The show will be held at the IIPM campus in Satbari, Delhi.

While the King Khan of Bollywood says, "I am coming to IIPM and it will be nice to be there!"

Bollywood Stars Skip Out on the IIFA

With all the buzz about the 10th Annual International Indian Film Academy Awards you would think that the best of B-town would be in attendance, but it looks like the event organizers have to deal with a bunch of no-shows. So who's not coming ? Shahrukh Khan was first in line to "call out" and it seems like many actors are following suit. Farah Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Akshay Kumar have also declined the invitation. Yikes! So what are their excuses?

Someone close to Akshay Kumar was quoted as saying that "a family vacation was planned well in advance to coincide with Akshay's son Aarav's school holidays. Akshay doesn't like leaving Aarav behind when he is out of the country. At the same time he doesn't want his son to miss school. So the annual holiday was planned well in advance. No power on earth, not even IIFA, is going to persuade Akshay to take even a small break from the holiday, let alone break his little boy's heart." Well although that sounds like a good enough reason it didn't stop event planners from trying to get Akki to the awards.

They reportedly offered to fly Akshay Kumar in and when he declined, they offered to let his entire family attend as well. Unfortunately for them he still said no.

Shahid Kapoor has had to change his plans of attending because his schedule has just gotten filled thanks to all the releases that he's got coming out this year. He said that "I was looking forward to performing at IIFA and showcasing 'Kaminey', however my commitment to my producer has to be honored and I regret being unable to attend this year."

Kareena Kapoor and Farah Khan are also not planning on showing up. Oh man, will the show still meet everyone's high expectations for it? Well at least we know that the Big B will be present ! Also the event is supposed to still have some great performances. Let us know you thoughts below.

Katrina Kaif - 'I'm Not sexy'

Who wouldn't want to be known as being sexy? Well it seems like Katrina Kaif doesn't. What?! Sources say Miss Kaif thinks that her beauty sometimes overshadows her talent and she wants people to know that she is more than just a pretty face.

So Katrina Kaif disdains her recent title as the "sexiest Asian woman alive". Although Katrina appreciates the title that was given to her by a poll done by a UK Asian magazine, she wants to prove her substance in Bollywood by taking on more dramatic and riveting roles that do not highlight her beauty. The star was shocked to learn that she is the most searched Bollywood actress on Google. A source tells us that Katrina can’t understand how her beauty alone has made her an iconic star.

Well Kat has a lot to prove. Kaif hasn't been able to showcase her skills in her previous flicks so hopefully we will be able to see if she can prove to be a great actress in her upcoming movie "New York".

So will Katrina be able to earn the title of B- town's best actress? You tell us below.

Slumdog Millionaire Child Actress Writes Book

Slumdog Millionaire child star, Rubina Ali, is releasing her first memoir on July 16th respectively titled, "Slumgirl Dreaming: My journey to the stars." Rubina catalogs her life on the streets of Mumbai to her film debut in Hollywood and then back again to the slums.

What is interesting about her story is that it is unlike anything we have read about a nine year old before. It brings insight into a world that many people disdain because they cannot relate to it. It is a far cry from the life of a perfect Disney or Nickelodeon child.

And here we have a young child telling chilling tales of things some could possibly not fathom. It’s a really deep journey of a young girl who must face daily challenges; challenges that her survival depends on. This is certainly quite the contrast from the girl we see walking down the red carpet in pretty dresses with a smile that could light the world on fire.

In addition, another B-town baby tries her hand at writing. Shahrukh Khan's daughter, Suhana, is slated to release a fictional, four chapter children’s book in the near future. A source reveals, “The novella she's written tells the story of a girl with six feet long eyelashes. When SRK asked her how it was possible for a girl to have such long lashes, she quickly replied back saying that the lashes were not real but just extensions." We can all see that young Suhana certainly gets her creativity from her talented dad.

It looks like there is a bright future in the works for these two young girls, capitalizing on fame at a very young age.Tell us what you think about these child authors and their recent endeavors. Leave your comments below.

Face-off Causes Trouble for 'Kal Kissne Dekha'

As if there wasn’t enough turbulence in Bollywood as of late, it seems as if Vivek Sharma’s film, Kal Kissne Dekha, will be further postponed for public release. This film was supposed to be the major on screen debut for the producer Vashu Bhagnani’s son, Jackky. However, the film is finding its way into the news for other reasons.

Apparently, Vashu Bhagnani bought the rights to his son, Jackky's film and plans to release it without showing Vivek Sharma, the director, the final cuts and edits. If the film does release before Sharma views it, he will be prepared to bring Bhagnani to court at any cost.

“I have made the film and they have not shown me the film and are now releasing it. Besides there are some payment s due. A couple of my writers have not been paid yet. He has fought with Anupam Kher, Khalid, Satish Kaushik, and all these directors don’t hold Mr. Bhagnani in good light,” said Sharma about Vishu Bhagnani.

Ironically, Vashu has taken such great lengths to make sure no troubles arise for his son’s Bollywood debut. Sources say, “Mr. Vashu Bhagnani is not leaving any stone unturned and is seriously dedicated to give his son a big launch. " Vashu has been going all out to promote this film for his sons big day in B-town. Vashu invested his own money to insure everything would go perfectly for his son. I guess things aren’t working out as planned.

It seems as if Jackky’s starring role has been put on the back burner as the film may end up in the court room rather than the cutting room. So far there has been no comment to the press from Vashu.

Well, I guess we are going to have to wait and see if this face-off will cause trouble for the June 12th release. Many anticipated to watch this film which is about a boy's journey to manhood, so hopefully things will work out. But for now, let us know what you think of the scandal, leave your comments below.

Salman wants to patch up with Shahrukh

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has extended his hand of friendship towards arch rival Shahrukh Khan. He said that he would be happy if Sony Television invited Shahrukh on his game show 10 Ka Dum. The bad boy of the tinsel town is ready to forget the differences with Shahrukh and start off a new innings of friendship with King Khan.

Salman said that he has no issues with Shahrukh being a part of the show and said although he was always in competition with Shahrukh he always wished him well. On a lighter note Salman added that SRK's coming on the show is not a big deal as he wasn't getting married to him! He also said he was sad about the fact that Shahrukh's Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? did not work with the audience.

Salman and Shahrukh had a spat during Katrina Kaif's birthday last year and ever since have regularly taken a dig at each other whenever possible. But off late Salman has been sending feelers to Shahrukh and wants to build a professional relationship with him to save his sinking career. Well it remains to be seen if the two friend turned foes can revive their friendship again.

IIFA Awards 2009 going to be dull without Khans?

Many are waiting curiously to see their favourite stars rock on the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2009. First of all Shahrukh, who has attended many IIFA Awards and rocked the occasions with his colourful performance, will not be able to attend the function this year. Presently, he is busy with the shooting of his forthcoming movie My Name is Khan, directed Karan Johar. Along with Karan, SRK will be not able to make it to this occasion.

Secondly, Salman Khan always shines in this kind of occasion and never likes to miss this opportunity. Unfortunately, Sallu Bhai is decided to remain absent on the occasion due to his hectic shooting schedule. He is working very hard in the shooting of his TV show Dus Ka Dum.

Finally, Ghajini actor Aamir Khan does not like award functions. He has hardly attended any Award function earlier also. Even though Ghajini is nominated for Best Movie and he is nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Ghajini, he has decided to remain at home and rest as usual.

Wondering if Ms. Kaif is becoming Snow White?

We have reports suggesting that Katrina Kaif has made up her mind to not use make-up in her forth coming films. Reports close to the actress reveal that Katrina has had cold feet because of the damage to her skin due to repeated use of make-up.

The actress has confirmed the news and is reported to have revealed that if given a choice most of the stars would shun their make-up kit. The actors need to sit with layers of make-up, sometimes for hours together, and in the long run it plays havoc with their skin.

So the best way to save the skin would be to say no to make-up or suffice with minimal make-up. It is good that Ms. Kaif has become a front-runner for shunning her make-up box. We are sure there will be many to follow suit. But it might not make a big difference whether Kat has her make up or not, coz people the lady is blessed with creamy skin and a complexion to match! So folks get set to watch Kat sans the make-up in future.

The Oscar changed my life

How life changes after one award. Ask our very own composing guru A. R. Rahman. After the Oscars ARR who had already been a busy man in India, has been receiving offers and accolades from left, right and centre. Rahman was also named as one of the top 100 influential persons in the world by the prestigious Times magazine recently!

For the Chennai-based music composer life definitely has changed after the Academy awards. When asked how he feels now after the world recognition, Rahman revealed that getting the twin Oscars was a very unnerving experience. The composer who cannot attend even places of prayer without being noticed feels he has to now concentrate more on his music because that is his first priority.

The Indian Mozart who has literally been living out of his travel bags (thanks to the adulations he has been receiving after the Oscars) literally broke his past records for traveling the past week. He was in New York, Dubai, Calicut, Chennai, Pune Delhi Mumbai, the list goes on!

There seems to be only one downside that the Oscars have brought into ARR’s life. The composer is not able to spend much time with his children. But ARR is not complaining. All he says is that before the Oscars his wife had dreamt that she was walking the red carpet by his side. She can now dream of walking to the Oscars with our children, says ARR.

To a scribe’s query on how he felt being voted as one of the top hundred influential persons of the world the music director said and we quote: At the function I was on the same table as Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and the CEO of Time magazine. When I went up to stage a chant of ‘Jai ho’ went up in the house

Wow! ARR sir it must have been a moment to cherish!

We at Indiaglitz wish you the best in all your future endeavors and hope your music will be a note of love and peace to the entire world

Pooja Chopra eyes Ms World crown

At the moment there is only one thing on Pooja’s mind the Ms. World title. The 23-year-old is all set to give her best shot at the Miss World contest that will be held in South Africa. Pooja, for whom the Miss India World title has been a dream come true is pursuing her next dream of winning the Ms. World title.

Pooja Chopra will be contesting for the 59th Miss World title that will be held on December 12, 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa. As much as 120 beauties are expected to take part in the event from around the world.

Ms. Chopra whose day begins as early as 5.30 in the morning is packed with hitting the gym, improving her diction, meeting her dietician and every now and then attending an event. When queried about the difference in preparing for Miss India and now for Miss World, Pooja says there is a stark difference.

Says Pooja while preparing for Miss India she was just Pooja Chopra but now preparing for Miss World she had to keep in mind that she will be representing India and that makes all the difference. Apart from that the Miss World event is an international event and one has to be equipped with international standards to face the Miss World jury.

Pooja Chopra who is very close to her mother has said that if she had the support and the prayers of her fellow country people she would come back with the Miss World title. The last time Priyanka Chopra won the Ms. World title way back in 2000. Last year Parvathi Omanakuttan missed it minutely, because she became the first runner up.

Akshay Kumar to skip IIFA for family holiday

Forget about performing live, Akshay Kumar won't be attending the 10th IIFA awards in Macau. June has been kept aside for the family vacation, and nothing in the world can change that.

Says a source close to Akshay, ''The family vacation was planned well in advance to coincide with Akshay's son Aarav's school vacations. Akshay doesn't like leaving Aarav behind when he is out of the country. At the same time he doesn't want his son to miss school. So the annual holiday was planned well I advance. No power on earth, not even IIFA, is going to persuade Akshay to take even a small break from the holiday, let alone break his little boy's heart.''

In fact it was suggested by IIFA organizers that Akshay fly down from wherever he was to Macau for the event. When Akshay refused to perform the organizers suggested he come down with to Macau with his wife and son just to attend.

But Akshay wouldn't relent. Says the source, ''Akshay planned the holiday for his son well in advance. The two sat together and decided which places to visit and what spots of the world would be of most interest to the boy. He rushed through his current assignments to keep June free. Nothing else matters at the moment.''
